Greenpeace has a 30-year history of protecting the world's oceans from dumping, over fishing and other exploitation. As such, we do not take this decision to support the Cape Wind farm lightly. It is also our belief, backed by studies of this and other offshore wind projects in Europe, that any environmental impacts caused by installing these turbines offshore are minor, especially when compared to the truly profound impacts of global warming on the oceans, estuaries and coastal lands. From the ice pack of the polar regions to the coral reefs of the tropics, global warming is already directly harming ocean ecosystems.

From Episode Two of the film series "The Century of the Self" by Adam Curtis. The nephew of Sigmund Freud, Edward Bernays started his business life as a publicist. While still in his twenties, he was part of the propaganda effort that drove the United States into in World War I (WW I.)
He personally advised several US presidents starting with Woodrow Wilson and counseled numerous corporations and business associations. Hitler's propaganda chief and Nazi henchman Joseph Goebbels was a reader and fan of Bernay's writing in particular Bernay's book "Crystalizing Public Opinion."
In this short excerpt from Curtis's film we see one example of Bernays at work.
Bernays was one of the engineers of the Cold War. He perfected the technique of manufacturing a distant but ever-threatening enemy and then creating a constant state of fear by generating false news reports that endlessly re-stated and exagerated the threat.
The stated purpose of Bernay's methods was to give those in power greater control over what he called "the mass mind." It worked well in the 1950s and sadly, it appears to be working quite well today... but maybe not forever.

My take on Anarchy, as limited as that is. It serves as a once-over. Had this one rolling around for a long time, and I'm glad to FINALLY get it out there under the "Brainwashed" series.
One note about this: I really neglected to properly give the impression of how huge this movement is. It's monumental. It makes the rebellion of the 60s look quaint. A media blackout has the non-participants fooled into thinking there's nothing for them to do. THAT's why this appears in the "Brainwashed" series.
And it does it without a leader, OR needing everybody to be "on the same page".
Think about that.

It aired on PBS in 1987 and is as good as anything on the tape (must see). Moyers is a very respected TV journalist who also worked for Lyndon B. Johnson and has a very professional approach. He interviews many different people involved with the CIA and other government agencies. His documentary gives quite an overview of what has actually happened in the last 50 years regarding the CIA and the cold war (including Iran, Guatamala, Cuba, Viet Nam and Chile). He features such people as Ralph McGeehee and Phil Retinger (both former CIA agents), Rear Admiral Gene La Rocque (Ret. U.S.N.), Theodore Bissell (active in the CIA at the time), Sen. Frank Church and many others. Moyers is so very credible. The full video "The Secret Government" is 90 minutes - this segment is edited by Frank Dorrel to 20 minutes.

Anarchists flypost and paint London city in a quick video short, filmed and edited on the spot.
---
note from Wrayer:
Sorry, I don't mean to imply that people should do this... not even if they're, say...
- really bored one night and have nothing to do
- just sick and tired of watching videos and would rather get off their butts and DO SOMETHING
- hate billboards pushing fuel-inefficient cars
- can't stand it that the only grafitti out there just says "f*** you"
... yeah not even then... cuz that would be illegal... and obeying the law makes you hot and sexy...
so don't do it cuz... y'know... "the law" 'n all... and all that grafitti out there that says "f*** you" needs to be kept safe...
... man... doing nothing is so so SO much cooler... I'm getting hot just thinking about the ignorance of the masses...
SO DON'T DO THIS! KEEP YOUR HEADS DOWN AND STAY IN LINE SHEEPLE!

On December 26, 2003, the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) deliberately shot at Gil Namati, a 21 year old Israeli protestor that demonstrated against the separation fence/wall. Gil was shot in both legs by two live bullets. The incident created a media storm and raised many question. What would have happened if the IDF didn't lie about the shooting of Gil Namati. Would it have justified the actions taken by the security forces? Is there a difference between shooting a Jew and a non-Jew? This film is divided into three parts, the first part presents the investigation which was shown at the press conference and proved the IDF was lying about the reasons for the shooting, the second part criticizes the investigation itself and how the media reacted and portrayed the incident and the separation barrier, and the third part is a propaganda piece about the "danger" the anarchists poses in Israel.

This is the film Singapore's censorship board doesn't want people to see. It's the story of opposition politician Chee Soon Juan, who has been imprisoned twice for championing democratic change in the city state. The censors declared it a "party political film" and it was pulled from April 2005's Singapore International Film Festival line-up after the director was warned he could face two years in jail if the screening went ahead. Directed by Martyn See. 'Singapore Rebel' has been selected to premiere in two human rights film festivals this month. The inaugural New Zealand Human Rights Film Festival and the Amnesty International Film Festival (USA) will host a series of screenings in Auckland, Wellington and West Hollywood. Film-maker Martyn See will not attend the festivals. He is now under investigation by the Singapore police for "the making" of 'Singapore Rebel'

Brand Street Immigration Centre is where all asylum seekers in Glasgow have to sign on weekly - and where dawn raids are carried out. This film covers an early morning action on the centre in November 2005 which disrupted at least one dawn raid that we know about. There are weekly demos at Brand St and a local info shop has been set up directly opposite the centre for advice and support for asylum seekers.
